Paul Bottone has been unreservedly nominated by RMSC members to chair SOC09. As head of the organizational committee, he has willingly brought his many skills to the table in order to orchestrate another memorable Saab Owners Convention in the Rocky Mountains. Early in his career, Paul worked as an electrical engineer (B.S.E.E. University of Colorado) both for the U.S. Navy and the Bureau of Standards before attending dental school at Washington University, St. Louis where he received his D.D.S. After holding a private practice for thirty-four years, Paul is now semi-retired. Currently he provides dental work for the mentally compromised at the University of Colorado Hospital O.R. and serves part-time as an instructor at the University of Colorado Dental School. A certified “car nut” from his youth on, Paul got some serious wrenching experience with a transmission repair and engine swap at the tender age of sixteen. Well on his way to becoming a diehard automotive fanatic, Paul was introduced to Saab in the 1980's when he purchased his first three door 900T, later followed in succession by a 9000T and two 9000 Aeros. Paul now drives a sharp, black ‘04 9-5 Aero SportWagon. In the early ‘90s, Paul also became active with the Rocky Mountain Saab Club serving terms on the Board of Directors and as the club’s treasurer. In additional to volunteer support at SOC99, he also acted as co-chair for the “Nines Run the Rockies” road rally. Reflecting on the sizable task before him, "the 1999 SOC will be a hard act to follow with over 800 attendees, but 2009 is in the new millennium. As a prelude to this convention, plans are already being made for a five day, Nines Run the Rockies reunion tour that will cover four national parks and will again showcase colorful Colorado... don’t miss it!" |
